Centenary Theatre Group

Centenary Theatre Group Inc. was established in 1976 the Brisbane suburb of Jindalee, initially known as the “Centenary Players.”

The group performed its first revue in 1976 and transitioned to the name “Centenary Theatre Group Inc.” in the early 1990s.

During its formative years, the group lacked a fixed venue, in various locations, including kindergartens and church halls. In the late 1970s, a permanent home was at the Chelmer Community Centre, where performances continue to this day.

On 10 October 1998, Centenary Theatre Group became the trustees of the Chelmer Community Centre. This new status enables the group to apply for grants from Arts Queensland and other organizations, while still allowing the hall to host various community activities. The trusteeship provides the theatre with a permanent home, a significant advantage for the group.
